A Year Ago this Weekend, ......

One year ago this weekend, we pulled this Girl in her last hours, from a small rural shelter in North Carolina. She has a tumor literally hanging from her belly,...after an extensive surgery, Noel was on the mend.
In the next few months Noel was able to lead a "Happy ,Fun Filled ,Setter Life", with her foster family.
She was able to know the love in a gental touch, and feel the comfort in a soft voice, she was able to experience the excitement in each new day,...
Until the cancer came back, and all too soon, Noel made her final journey home,......in March of 2006.

Godspeed Sweet Noel

Since our last update on Noel, everything had been going very well, any thoughts of Cancer taking Sweet Noel away from us seemed to disappear. Until last week, Noel had been a healthy, happy English Setter, enjoying life as they always do, chasing bunnies, seeking out birds, and just having fun.
An infection landed her in the vets office, to find out that the cancer had now spread to her lungs, thus reminding us of the brutal reality, the injustice that had been laid upon Noel,..
The numerous litters, and lack of proper vet care, was now taking it's toll.
Noel was sent home with a shot of antibiotic and some cortisone to ease the pain,..We were hoping for a another week or two anyway,..
Noel came home and hit the bunnie trail again, played with Gracie and the gang, everything was once again pretty good for Noel.
Ivy, knowing that her time was limited, and knew she must stay close, in case Noel once again crashed and had to be rushed back to the vet, slept with her in the kitchen, while the other dogs stayed as close as possible, knowing things were not good.
On Sunday morning Noel got up and again played outside, and then came in for a nap.
It was when she woke up, that Ivy knew it their time had now come to an end.
Sadly Ivy, called the vet, and received instruction to bring Noel in,... for the last time.
They got into the Truck and Noel sat in front, checking out all the goings on as the last miles flew by,..she then got tired ,and layed her head in Ivy's lap,...Sending Ivy a final ,"Thank You".
Noel was pretty much already on her way, as she was lifted to the examinng table, and after 4 tries a vein was finally found,.. and our Dear Sweet Noel ,was now on her final journey home,....
Godspeed, sweet Noel,....

another update!!!

Thank you all so much for the great zen.
Miss Noel is home and in the crate chewing on a bone.
She is very festive in her red and green vetwrap.
You would never know she went under the knife twice.
Everyone at the vets office couldn't stop commenting on what a nice nice girl she is.
She has to wear a t shirt to catch the fluid from the drainage tube and has to go back tomorrow for a check up.
Tube comes out in 10 days and staples from all 3 incisions come out in 14. It will take about 5 days for the biopsies to come back and she'll take it from there in classic setter style.
thanx again for all your support.

Driver comments on Noel

Yeah, Noel was a sweet dog. She and Jingle rode so well together. They slept most of the way. Noel stood up sometimes but just looked around and wagged. Ivy is very lucky to have her in her home.

Thanks so much, for the update. I will be praying for Noel's
recovery and a long and happy life!

Update on Noel

It took 2 hours of surgery to remove Noel's mammory tumors.
She was out of recovery and went out to pee.
The she had a bleeder.
I have never seen such a sad setter.
She was standing the in kennel with a cone collar on and blood was dripping from her tumor. but that tail was still wagging.

I gave her a few kisses and told her how much I loved her and she went back in for a second surgery.this one was a half hour.
The vet found 2 bleeders.
I had to go to the choral concert at school so i stopped at the vet on the way home.
She was still on the recovery bed and I got to be with her when the tube was pulled out of her throat.
i also got to see the tumors.
the 1 was gigantic.
I can honestly say that I hope i don't ever have to see a tumor again.
I gave Noel a few more kisses on her dear little head and told her I would be back tomorrow to bring her home.

She is such a sweet, sweet girl. I just can't believe how someone could just ditch her.
Keep sending that Zen please. I'll have an update tomorrow.
peace,
ivy
